Pharrell Williams has done it once again! His single “Happy”, which debuted in the quirky animated Despicable Me 2, has shot up the charts making Mr. Williams a chart topper (once again). Though more recently criticized for his choice of hats, pressing play on his latest album “G I R L” has been pressing all the right buttons. I think it is awesome that Pharrell has decided to don his producing/artist hat once again for his OWN project. ‘GIRL’ is his self-proclaimed ode to women across the spectrum. It starts off with ‘Marilyn Monroe’, which is set be his next released single. My favorite would be the entire compilation of greatness. Each song takes a toll on your emotions making feel relaxed yet exhilarated. It’s definitely an album to wake you up and start your day to. If I had to choose the song that pulls on my heart-strings the most, it would be ‘Know Who You Are’ featuring the lovely Alicia Keys. The melody compliments her vocals perfectly. The collaborations are right on point may I add, with the other featuring Justin Timberlake. Even though it is still early in the year, this will easily stay in my list of ‘Great Listens of 2014’. So if you haven’t basked in the 70s,sexy, cool infused melodies that is this album, please do.
